Return to exercise and running

I am your biggest cheerleader! Whether your goal is to feel strong carrying your baby, be able to run for a bus, return to strength training or complete an ironman, I’m here to help you return to movement feeling confident and capable. Together we will create a clear, progressive plan tailored to your goals and lifestyle. Using evidenced-based guidelines we will assess:

  • Pelvic floor muscle function
  • Abdominal wall function
  • Lower limb strength and control
  • Impact tolerance

You’ll leave with a structured plan that feels achievable and realistic for this season of life.

Frequently asked questions

Can physio help with clogged ducts and mastitis?

Yes! Physiotherapy can be effective in relieving discomfort, reducing inflammation and supporting effective breast drainage by using therapeutic ultrasound, gentle lymphatic drainage massage, diaphragmatic breathing, targeted mobility and guidance on self-management strategies. Early support can make a real difference so please reach out if you need support.

When should I book?

You are welcome to come in at any point after birth - whether that’s in the first few weeks postpartum or many years later. While I typically wait until around 6 weeks postpartum to carry out an internal pelvic floor assessment, there is so much we can begin before then. Early guidance can kickstart your recovery and may include: early abdominal activation and strengthening, manual-therapy and mobility for aches and pains, education on optimal bladder and bowel function and advice on scar healing. If you are experiencing symptoms that are impacting your confidence or comfort - such as urinary leakage, vaginal heaviness, pelvic pain - please don’t feel you need to wait until 6 weeks to seek support. Equally, if those early weeks feel overwhelming and you’d rather wait until 8–12 weeks (or longer), that’s absolutely okay too. There is no “perfect” time to start. I will meet you exactly where you are - with care and evidence-based guidance tailored to your stage of recovery.

Do you offer a postnatal Mummy MOT?

Yes - I offer comprehensive postnatal assessments often referred to as a ‘Mummy MOT’. A postnatal assessment is a detailed, whole-body check designed to assess how your body is recovering after pregnancy and birth. It is suitable from around 6 weeks postpartum (or later - it’s never too late to book). You will receive a pre-assessment questionnaire prior to your session which will help you to reflect on your pregnancy and early postpartum recovery and consider your goals. In the session we will discuss any concerns you may have including bladder, bowel, sexual function or prolapse symptoms. I will assess your pelvic floor (with your consent), abdominal wall, overall function and strength before planning an individualised rehabilitation plan tailored to your goals. You will receive a written report after your session detailing your assessment findings, personalised plan and advice.
